Good light

These shots would have been extremely different had I had better light. Not only was it not the right time of the afternoon, but the sun was playing hide and seek behind some expansive clouds. Realizing this, I began to think about good, nice photos, those that people deem as beautiful. How is it that we want to take only beautiful photos? They are images after all, and the value of an image cannot be intrinsically tied to a widespread notion of beauty. How to evaluate a photograph if beauty should not be the only metric?
