The last Magnolias

For this year, 2012. They are nearly all gone. I am hoping to capture new compositions next year. I am hoping to use my analog much more often by the time Magnolias bloom next spring. I cannot wait to see where my photography will be around this time but a year later.

There is something about photo three that is not readily pleasant, but I still find the messy composition to be interesting. Usually, my response to photos is rather visceral and thus immediate. I like. Or I don't. I believe that the answer can be found in the fact that our vision is already trained to find pleasure in certain features: bright colors, harmonious color compositions, interesting shadows, symmetry, deliberate disymmetry, etc. Our eyes do not respond quickly to aimless chaos, or what may appear to be aimless chaos. Unfortunate. The gaze needs careful retraining all the time.
