So easy
It is to fall out of the blogging rhythm. Still thinking, albeit less intensely these days, about what attributes make a photograph perfect or less perfect. Perhaps thinking of it in terms of perfection is not the most productive way to approach photography, be it producing or viewing. But I find the term perfect to be more suggestive than beautiful. It seems to me that ugly things in pictures can still render a perfect photograph. I would like to depart from the presupposition that perfection is not just a matter of individual perception or taste, namely a strictly subjective assessment. What can be deemed as perfect may run along voices of convention or against them, but it is hardly a strictly individual/personal process of judgment or evaluating. Just as conventions come about or perish quietly, the idea of perfection responds to collective impulses.
More musing on on this to follow.
