I am not sure what these flowers are called. They are not as striking as the magnolias. They bear a more barrent quality that makes them kind of sad...The way that photo four makes me feel was unexpected. I capture the image without being entirely sure of the outcome. The element of contingency is what I still find incredibly wondrous about photography. Even when working with a digital camera, at the instant of clicking one does not know concretely what the camera's eye is capturing within the four walls of the frame. The frame constitutes a great deal of the image. Composition would not exist without frame.
